Islamic Ruling on Lip Blushing: Forbidden as It Resembles Tattooing

Lip blushing, a semi-permanent cosmetic procedure to color and shape the lips, is considered haram in Islam. This is based on evidence prohibiting altering Allah’s creation (QS An-Nisa: 119) and being dissatisfied with His blessings, even though humans are created in the best form (QS At-Tin: 4). The process, which resembles tattooing by using needles to insert pigment into the skin, can cause pain, infection, or irritation.
