Is Hijab Cosplay Permissible in Islam?

Assalamu alaikum everyone! I’ve noticed many sisters doing cosplay while wearing hijab, arranging it to look like different characters’ hairstyles. I really admire their creativity, but they get a lot of criticism. Some folks say it’s not allowed even though their awrah is fully covered. Is that correct? Also, does styling the hijab to mimic hair make it invalid as a proper hijab? Jazakum Allahu khairan for any insights.
