Iranian President Emphasizes Efforts to End War with Dignity
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has affirmed that his country is striving to end the war with the United States in a dignified manner. In a speech at the Ministry of Sports and Youth in Tehran on Sunday, April 19, 2026, Pezeshkian highlighted U.S. President Donald Trump's statements regarding Iran's nuclear rights, while asserting that Iran has not committed any crime.
Pezeshkian also called for solidarity among the Iranian people in the face of external pressure. He emphasized that Iran should not be positioned as an instigator of conflict, but rather as a party defending itself from threats.
Tensions began on February 28th with a joint U.S. and Israeli attack on Iran, which Tehran responded to with a counterstrike. The situation has subsided since April 8th after Pakistan mediated a two-week ceasefire. Diplomatic efforts continue, including talks in Pakistan between Washington and Tehran to seek a permanent peace path.
