Indonesian Hajj Ministry Boosts Services Ahead of 1447 H Pilgrimage Peak
The Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah (Kemenhaj) is continuing to strengthen accommodation, catering, transport, and health services for Indonesian pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, to ensure safe, comfortable, and focused worship. By Friday, May 8, 2026, 303 groups with 117,452 pilgrims and 1,209 staff had been dispatched from home. A total of 165 groups with 63,822 pilgrims have already arrived in Makkah to perform the obligatory umrah and prepare for the peak of the Hajj.
Kemenhaj spokesperson Ichsan Marsha emphasized that the priority is ensuring the best service so pilgrims can focus on worship. On the accommodation side, the Hajj Organizing Committee has placed pilgrims in 94 hotels in Madinah and 180 hotels in Makkah. So far, over 2.7 million meal boxes have been distributed. Transport, including the Shalawat Bus network with 17 routes in Makkah, remains a vital service supporting pilgrims' daily mobility.
Health is a top priority, with Kemenhaj reminding pilgrims to stay disciplined about their well-being given temperatures hitting 38–42 degrees Celsius. As of May 8, 2026, 20 pilgrims have passed away in Saudi Arabia, and Kemenhaj has ensured their service entitlements were met. The ministry also expressed gratitude to all staff and pilgrims for their discipline during the Hajj operations.
