Illegal Settlers Burn Mosque and Vehicles in the West Bank, Palestinians Condemn Attack
Illegal settlers tried to burn down a mosque in the village of Burqa, West Bank, on Sunday night while worshippers were inside. They first set fire to vehicles near the mosque, then broke down the door and set fire to the entrance before fleeing. Worshippers managed to put out the fire, so there were no casualties, but the mosque suffered heavy damage.
In the nearby city of Deir Dibwan, settlers also burned two vehicles and damaged two others. Attacks on Palestinians and their property keep rising, coinciding with occupation forces’ operations. Meanwhile, in Nahhalin, west of Bethlehem, settlers piled farmlands with soil and rocks, threatening hundreds of olive trees and settlement expansion.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned the incident and urged the UN and international community to take concrete action against unchecked settler violence. Critics accuse the Israeli government of turning a blind eye to the increasingly frequent and deadly extremist settler attacks, with arrests and prosecutions rarely carried out.
