When racism shakes hands with Iblis
Alright, I need to get this off my chest, and I'd love to hear what you think-some might find this a bit bold or even extreme, but please be patient and stick with me till the end, insha'Allah. Being racist isn't just un-Islamic... it's anti-Islamic. If I'm racist, I'm basically taking a stand outside Islam, even if I'm not technically outside the fold legally or juristically. Now, I'm not here to declare anyone a kafir or throw around takfir. I'm no scholar, I don't have that authority. I just want to share a perspective and let it sit in your heart for a moment. Bear with me. Let's look at a few things. The very first racist was Shaytan himself. He discriminated against Adam, judging him by what he was made of. He said, 'I'm better than this creation that Allah shaped with His own hands, because I'm from fire and he's from clay.' (Check out Quran 7:12 for context, this is paraphrased!) That's racism at its root. Allah created diversity so we could get to know one another. It says clearly in Surah Al-Hujurat, 49:13: 'O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another.' Diversity isn't some problem to just tolerate-it's a divine design, a purpose from Allah. Our beloved Prophet, peace be upon him, talked about this in his final sermon: 'No Arab has any superiority over a non-Arab, nor does a non-Arab have any superiority over an Arab; no white person has any superiority over a black person, nor does a black person have any superiority over a white person, except through taqwa and righteous deeds.' When you're racist, you're unhappy with Allah's creation and wisdom. It becomes a theological issue, an unspoken denial. A Muslim is someone who submits to Allah's will. Racism is a contradiction for anyone claiming that submission. It means seeing creation through the same lens as Iblis-using material origins to rank people. I get that racism has complex layers from culture and society. But deep down, it's still from jahiliyyah-that ignorant mindset. It's a sickness in the heart. You might not agree, but it's something to really ponder. The logic of racism just doesn't fit with the Islamic respect for creation. Holding both means you've got a clash you need to sort out. Whew, I hope this lands well, insha'Allah.
