ICW Reports BGN Head to KPK Over Alleged Rp49.5 Billion Halal Certification Mark-Up
Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) has reported the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) and PT BKI (Persero) to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding alleged corruption in the procurement of halal certification services for 2025. ICW suspects budget inflation with potential state losses reaching Rp49.5 billion from a project valued at Rp141 billion, whereas the fair value is estimated at only Rp90 billion.
ICW's Head of Law and Investigation Division, Wana Alamsyah, stated that several issues were found, including the splitting of procurement packages suspected of avoiding tender. ICW also questioned the legality of the procurement, as the obligation for halal certification should be the responsibility of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), not BGN.
BGN Head Dadan Hindayana respects ICW's report and stated the procurement process will be audited by a government oversight agency, with project payments to be reviewed first by BPKP and APIP. KPK, through spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, stated the report will be followed up through review and clarification procedures as per protocol.
