Finding It Hard to Connect After Moving to a New City

Assalamu alaikum everyone, my spouse and I recently relocated to a smaller town. Back in our old neighborhood, we built many friendships quickly and always felt embraced, even in a short time. But here, despite a larger Muslim community, we're struggling to feel included. We've reached out by inviting folks over or suggesting outings, but often there's no response or effort in return. It's been tough, making us feel overlooked and missing our previous community. We often spot fellow Muslims around, yet rarely does anyone initiate a greeting, which goes against the sunnah of saying Salam. Even a simple smile seems rare these days. Honestly, I've stopped trying to greet strangers or invite people over because the lack of response has been disheartening. Sometimes I wonder if this is a test from Allah or if there's another reason behind it-maybe it's just how things are in this town. Any advice or similar experiences would be welcome.
