Building Our Community with Islamic Etiquette
I wanted to share some beautiful Hadith that talk about our daily manners and how we should treat others around us. These aren't just rules, but ways to make our communities better, insha'Allah. - If you feel a yawn coming, cover your mouth with your hand. The Prophet ﷺ taught us that this keeps away negative influences. - When you sneeze, be gentle about it. Lower your voice and cover up, just as our beloved Messenger ﷺ did. - Something as simple as picking up trash or moving a harmful object from a pathway is counted as a charitable act (sadaqah). SubhanAllah! - Don't ever think a small good deed is worthless. Even smiling at a fellow Muslim is precious. - On the Day of Judgement, nothing will weigh more heavily in a believer's favor than having a good, kind character. - Remember, Allah is Al-Lateef (the Most Gentle) and He loves gentleness in everything we do. - A true believer avoids insulting people, cursing, and using foul or indecent language. - If you really must sit by the roadside, fulfill its rights: lower your gaze, remove anything harmful, return the salaams, and encourage good while stopping wrong. - The Prophet ﷺ emphasized that someone whose neighbor isn't safe from their harm has not perfected their faith. Let's be mindful of our neighbors. - If you believe in Allah and the Last Day, either speak good or stay silent. - Cheating or deceiving others? That's not from us. Honesty is a must. - Show mercy to everyone and everything on this earth, and the Most Merciful above the heavens will show mercy to you. - A man once asked for advice, and the Prophet ﷺ repeatedly told him, 'Don't get angry.' Something we all need to work on! - Even planting a tree or sowing seeds, and then having a bird, person, or animal benefit from it, is recorded as ongoing charity for you. How amazing is that? May Allah help us all implement these in our lives. Ameen.
