Egyptian PM inaugurates Tanzanian hydropower dam, cites commitment to African development

Egypt's Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inaugurated the Julius Nyerere hydropower project in Tanzania. He stated the project, built by an Egyptian consortium, disproves claims that Egypt opposes development in Nile Basin countries. The dam is expected to generate 2,115 megawatts of electricity for Tanzania. The remarks come amid an ongoing dispute with Ethiopia over dam construction on the Nile River.
