East Java Chamber of Commerce Embraces SPPG Managers, Seeking Middle Ground for Children's Nutrition and Business Owners' Fate
The East Java Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) held a forum with dozens of managers from the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in Sidoarjo on Tuesday (23/6). They discussed various operational issues of the Free Nutritious Meals Program (MBG), such as kitchen operations during school holidays, temporary suspension of operations, and readiness of new kitchens.
Kadin East Java Chairman Adik Dwi Putranto affirmed full support for MBG, which is considered important for improving children's nutrition and the quality of Indonesia's human resources. He stated that if there are violations, legal processes must be carried out, but the program should not be stopped because its benefits are so great.
In addition to the nutritional aspect, MBG also drives the regional economy. Each MBG kitchen absorbs about 50 workers and involves at least 15 raw material suppliers, from farmers, ranchers, cooperatives, to distributors. The short distribution pattern also increases efficiency.
Kadin East Java invites all partners to remain optimistic and open intensive dialogue. Kadin Sidoarjo added that if the program stops, many MSMEs and community members will be affected. Kadin East Java is committed to bridging the aspirations of SPPG managers to the central government so that the program continues to run.
