Dr. Anwar Gargash Calls for Lasting Peace in Gaza as Ceasefire Gains Approval
Dr. Anwar Gargash, advisor to President Sheikh Mohamed, shared a heartfelt call on Friday for enduring peace in Gaza, hoping to bring calm to a land weary from conflict. He emphasized the need for a fresh political outlook for the besieged area, as a newly approved ceasefire offers hope for ending the deadly clashes with Israel.
In the early hours of Friday, Israel's cabinet agreed to the ceasefire framework for Gaza, including plans for the safe release of all hostages. The UAE also welcomed the announcement of this initial agreement by US President Donald Trump.
"After years marked by hardship, injustice, and suffering, peace remains the ultimate hope for the people of Gaza," Dr. Gargash posted. "A peace that revives children's lives, brings hope to mothers, and grants tranquility to a land exhausted by wars.
The moment has come for silence in the battlefields and for voices of compassion and wisdom to prevail. We need a political horizon that goes beyond temporary fixes toward a lasting solution grounded in truth, justice, and dignity for Palestine."
Since the conflict began on October 7, 2023, over 67,000 Palestinians have lost their lives and more than 169,000 have been injured. The Israeli military launched its offensive following attacks by militants that resulted in the loss of 1,200 Israeli lives and abduction of 240 people.
UN aid chief Tom Fletcher urged nations to support the US peace plan as a foundation for urgent humanitarian efforts. He emphasized that this plan is crucial to saving tens of thousands of lives and stressed that civilians on both sides are desperate for peace.
UN agencies stand ready to deliver essential supplies immediately, with plans to provide daily aid to 2.1 million people in Gaza during the ceasefire’s first 60 days to prevent famine.
May Allah grant peace and healing to all affected by this tragic conflict, and may efforts continue towards a just and lasting resolution.
