Dozens of Students in East Lombok Suspected of Food Poisoning from Free Nutritious Meals Program
The police continue to monitor the handling of dozens of students who are recipients of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program in Pringgasela, East Lombok, who are suspected to have suffered food poisoning. As of Monday (27/4), the number of victims recorded has reached 51 people, up from the initial report of 35 people. Personnel from the Pringgasela Police Precinct, along with the Intelkam unit, went directly to the Pengadangan Community Health Center to ensure the condition of the victims and monitor the medical treatment.
Head of Public Relations for the NTB Regional Police, Sr. Comr. Mohammad Kholid emphasized that the police are giving serious attention to this case. "As soon as the report was received, officers immediately took action to monitor, register the victims, and ensure all affected students and residents received prompt handling," he said. Currently, seven people are still hospitalized, consisting of five students, one member of the general public, and one pregnant woman.
The police have begun to trace the distribution and serving process of the food from the kitchen of SPPG Yayasan Bersatu Berjuang Menang NTB, which the students consumed before symptoms appeared. The MBG program, intended to improve the nutrition of school children, is now under scrutiny following this incident. The situation at the handling site is reported to remain conducive, with intensive coordination between the police, health workers, school officials, and the victims' families.
