Doctor Elda Who Mocked BPJS Patients, UGM Grad Now Suspended
BANDA ACEH – Doctor Elda Putri Rahardini, a participant in the Specialist Doctor Education Program (PPDS) at Dr Sardjito General Hospital, has been suspended after her social media comments were deemed lacking empathy towards BPJS patient Yurizal Tri Chaerawan. Yurizal had complained about an eight-hour wait to get a treatment room, but Elda’s comment instead belittled the patient’s condition. Yurizal passed away on July 31, 2026, nine days after his post.
Elda, a general medicine and medical profession graduate from Gadjah Mada University (UGM) and a recipient of LPDP and Monbukagakusho scholarships, issued a public apology. She admitted her comment was inappropriate and did not reflect professional ethics. However, Dr Sardjito General Hospital still imposed a suspension for coaching purposes.
Dr Sardjito’s Legal and Public Relations Manager, Banu Hermawan, stated that the sanction was given in line with the commitment to uphold dignified education. House Commission IX urged strict sanctions, while the Health Ministry advised reporting ethical violations through the Indonesian Health Council and reminded healthcare workers to maintain ethics in the digital space.
