Delegations from Iran, Azerbaijan, and Russia are discussing economic cooperation in Baku.
Assalamu alaikum, brothers and sisters! Today in Baku, there’s an important meeting going on between representatives from Azerbaijan, Russia, and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev is hosting Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk and Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzanah Sadegh. It’s great to see our brothers and sisters from these three countries coming together to talk about strengthening economic ties.
The main topics of the meeting are developing transport and logistics, creating the International North-South Transport Corridor, as well as cooperation on gas exports and synchronizing power grids. Shahin Mustafayev pointed out that talks like these are a fantastic chance for effective collaboration and for boosting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.
Azerbaijan aims to maintain good neighborly and equal relations with both Moscow and Tehran. Russia remains one of Azerbaijan’s key trading partners - about 11% of imports come from Russian goods, and Russia is an important market for exporting agricultural products and other goods from Azerbaijan.
Economist Emin Garibli emphasized that cooperation with Iran also has deep roots, and the North-South project could be a major step toward developing trade-economic relations and even industrial cooperation between the two countries. All three states are interested in diversifying their economies, using innovations and new technologies for further prosperity.
