Dealing with Family Challenges as a New Muslim
Assalamualaikum everyone, I hope you're all doing well in sha Allah. I'm going through some tough times with my family after embracing Islam, and I could really use some advice and support. It's been hard to practice freely because my mom is really struggling with my decision. She believes I'm taking things too seriously by actually following the teachings properly, which she calls extreme. She says it's causing her a lot of emotional strain, and she wishes I'd just stay with the faith I was born into, arguing that I should focus on this life instead of the hereafter. She even suggested seeing a counselor together, and I agreed, hoping it might help her understand and accept my choice. Despite her asking me not to fast, I'm determined to keep up with my obligations. But now things have gotten more intense-she's threatening to involve my dad, who has strong negative views about Islam, and she's backed out of counseling due to the cost. She's presented me with two options: either she tells my dad or I gradually step away from Islam to cooperate with her. I'm feeling scared and unsure, especially since I'm young and don't want to cause her stress or tears. My deepest wish is to practice my faith peacefully and have her accept it without any distress. If anyone has guidance on how to handle this situation, please share-I really need help figuring this out. JazakAllah khair.
