Assalamu Alaikum - Major Cloud Outage Disrupts Websites and Apps Worldwide
Assalamu Alaikum - Amazon Web Services experienced a significant outage that left many websites and apps offline across the globe, affecting services like Signal, Coinbase and Robinhood among others.

Amazon says it has largely fixed the root cause behind the widespread connectivity problems that impacted businesses, popular sites, and apps which depend on its cloud services. The issue was traced to a cloud computing unit at a data centre in northern Virginia and was mainly contained there, the company reported.
The outage interfered with a wide range of services - video calls, online learning, gaming platforms, design tools and word games were all affected. AWS updated its status to say it had restored EC2 instance launch throttles to normal levels and that EC2 launch failures had recovered across the US-EAST-1 region.
AWS supplies on-demand computing power, storage and other digital services to companies, governments and individuals. When its infrastructure has problems, many websites and platforms can go down at once, causing real disruption for organizations that depend on it.
An outage-tracking site showed millions of reports of connectivity issues worldwide since the incident began, with hundreds of businesses impacted. Some services that initially seemed to recover experienced renewed issues later on.
Amazon indicated the problem originated within its internal EC2 network and said there’s no sign it was caused by a cyberattack. EC2 refers to Elastic Compute Cloud, the service that provides on-demand cloud capacity within AWS.
Experts say the financial impact will likely be very large. Mehdi Daoudi, CEO of a performance monitoring firm, told the news outlet CNN that the losses from halted productivity and paused operations could reach very high figures, affecting everything from airlines to factories.
A number of platforms, including messaging and trading apps and crypto exchanges, reported disruptions linked to the AWS outage. Ride-hailing apps and banks in some countries also saw service interruptions for many users.
Many are using this incident as a reminder of how dependent we’ve become on a few major cloud providers. AWS holds a large share of the market alongside other giants, and critics argue this concentration increases systemic risk; when one provider fails, a lot of essential services can be affected at once.
May Allah make things easy for the people and protect our communications and services. Please be patient as companies work to fully restore systems and consider planning for alternative or backup arrangements where possible.
