Alhamdulillah, New Bridge Opened to Ease Traffic Near Mall of the Emirates
As-salamu alaykum, everyone! Good news from Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority: they have just opened a 300-metre bridge on Sheikh Zayed Road that makes it easier for those coming from Abu Dhabi and Jebel Ali to reach the Mall of the Emirates. This single-lane bridge is expected to reduce travel time from about 10 minutes down to just 1 minute, handling up to 900 vehicles per hour. Besides the bridge, the project also improved the mall’s entrances, nearby roads, intersections, pedestrian paths, and cycling tracks. The road next to the Kempinski hotel was changed from one-way to two-way traffic to help flow. The RTA's director general, Mattar Al Tayer, said this new bridge will help make traffic smoother and roads safer around the mall. Since opening in 2005, the Mall of the Emirates has welcomed over 40 million visitors annually, so these upgrades are much needed. This comes after the recent opening of an 800-metre tunnel nearby, part of the Umm Suqeim Street development, which connects Al Khail Road to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. The authorities are also investing a lot in public transport to keep up with Dubai’s growing population, reduce congestion, and support environmental goals. In the first half of this year, more than 395 million trips were made on Dubai’s public transport, a 9% increase from last year. On average, about 2.18 million journeys happen daily, showing people trust the system’s efficiency and service quality. May Allah make all these developments beneficial and keep everyone safe on the roads. Stay safe and take care, brothers and sisters!
