Ade Armando Clarifies: Highlighted Specific Sentences in JK's Sermon, Not Accusing Him of Religious Blasphemy
Social media activist Ade Armando emphasized that he never accused former Vice President Jusuf Kalla (JK) of committing religious blasphemy regarding his sermon at UGM that drew attention. "I never accused Mr. JK of blaspheming religion," Ade said on the Rakyat Bersuara program on iNews, Tuesday (4/28/2026). He stated that what was highlighted were specific sentences in the sermon, particularly concerning the concept of 'martyrdom.'
Ade explained in his podcast that Muslims do not automatically die as martyrs when fighting followers of other religions, but rather when fighting unbelievers who are hostile to and attack Islam. He also mentioned that a Christian participant in the podcast expressed surprise at JK's statement, because in their understanding, killing is forbidden in Christianity.
Previously, representatives from the Huria Kristen Batak Protestant (HKBP) church visited JK's residence. HKBP Ephorus Reverend Victor Tambunan stated that JK's sermon at UGM contained no elements of blasphemy against Christianity and urged congregants not to be provoked by circulating video clips.
