A Concern About Appropriate Gym Attire in Islam

As-Salamu Alaikum, brothers and sisters. I'm a 20-year-old guy who spends a lot of time at the gym, and I've been noticing something that's been on my mind. I obviously don't look intentionally, but I often come across sisters around my age or older who wear hijab and are fully covered, yet they choose very tight-fitting clothing. Are they under the impression that this is acceptable as long as they're 'covered'? The same goes for brothers; I see many Muslim men wearing tight compression shirts, maybe to show off at the gym. What's the Islamic ruling on this? It really bothers me whenever I see Muslims presenting themselves this way, especially since it seems our community has started to normalize it (I live in the West, where this is common among Arabs and Muslims). Is it wrong for me to feel uncomfortable about this? I know I should focus on my own journey, but it's hard not to think about it when it's so widespread. Do they think it's okay, and is it truly permissible to wear such attire as long as you're covered? I'd appreciate any insights from an Islamic perspective.
