A different take: Why letting children play at the mosque before and after salah is a good idea
Salaam, just wanted to share my thoughts on this-I know some might disagree, but hear me out. I totally agree that kids need to behave properly in the mosque. That means no disrespect, bad language, or damaging anything. Here’s why I think allowing some playtime is beneficial: 1. I’d much rather see them playing games in the mosque than out on the streets, because in the mosque, we can keep an eye on them. As parents, we often don’t know what they’re up to outside. 2. If they’re choosing to play tag, hide-and-seek, or even wrestle in the mosque, it shows they actually enjoy being there. Instead of scolding them, we should guide them on how to balance fun with respect. 3. It’s a great opportunity for them to learn more about Islam. They’re already at the mosque-the next step is gently teaching them about our deen. These kids are our future. We shouldn’t punish them just for being young. Of course, worship comes first. So if someone comes to pray or recite Quran, they need to learn to be quiet or play silently away from those who are praying or reading. It’s all about teaching them responsibility and love for the mosque, insha'Allah.
