7 Forbidden Acts of Revenge in the Quran and Hadith That Muslims Should Know

Islam highly encourages forgiveness and forbids holding grudges. In the Quran, one verse states, "...and those who restrain their anger and forgive others. And Allah loves those who do good" (QS Ali Imran: 134). Other verses also emphasize that patience and forgiveness are noble deeds. Hadith of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) also stresses the prohibition of mutual hatred and revenge. He said, "Allah does not increase a servant with forgiveness except in honor" (HR Muslim).
