6 Main Purposes of Sending Prophets and Messengers to Humankind
Allah SWT sent the prophets and messengers to guide people to the path He approves of. First, to call people to monotheism and worship Allah alone, as emphasized in Surah An-Nahl verse 36. Second, to bring good news to the believers and a warning to those who deny, according to Surah Al-An’am verse 48.
Third, to be a good role model (uswatun hasanah) so that people can emulate noble character, as mentioned in Surah Al-Ahzab verse 21. Fourth, to establish the proof so that people have no excuse to argue on the Day of Judgment, as in Surah An-Nisa verse 165.
Fifth, to inform about the unseen matters that human reason cannot reach, based on revelation, like in Surah Ali Imran verse 179. Sixth, to be educators who guide and purify souls, as the Prophet Muhammad SAW said that he was sent as a teacher who makes things easy (narrated by Muslim).
