Seeking Allah’s blessing in a halal way

Assalamu alaikum, I’m a brother and I reached out to a Muslim sister I’ve known for about three years from university, though we mostly kept things professional. I shared my feelings and, alhamdulillah, she felt the same. We both wanted to do things right, so we agreed to involve our parents and limit contact. I spoke to my mom, but she advised me to focus on my upcoming entrance exam first, inshaAllah, and then approach my father once that’s settled, inshaAllah. The sister told her mother too, who said she’d tell her father after I tell mine-which sounds fair. We’ve paused messaging until then. I feel at peace, alhamdulillah, and I think this was the right path. What do you all think?
