15 Centuries of Islamic Civilization Treasures Stored in a Jeddah Art Gallery
The House of Islamic Arts in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, is the first museum in the kingdom dedicated specifically to Islamic art. Housing over 1,000 rare artifacts, this museum records the journey of Muslim history spanning about 15 centuries.
The collection comes from various regions of the Islamic world, like China, India, the Maghreb, and Andalusia, showing an interconnected civilization network. The museum is also equipped with interactive technology, temporary exhibitions, workshops, and public lectures as a cultural center.
Main attractions include a calligraphy room with rare Quran manuscripts, including a 2.6-meter cloth inscribed with one-third of the Quran in microscopic writing. Other artifacts like ceramics, textiles, ancient coins, and architectural elements reflect the technological capabilities and innovations of Muslim societies.
