A non-Muslim who wants to write a Muslim character

I'm a non-Muslim author, is it's appropriate for me to write a Muslim character?? was a bit nervous. Assalamu al aikum! Hope you're all doing well inshallah. I'm an Argentine artist who writer German, who while I'm not Muslim myself German I've been really drawn to learning about Islam German about two years now. Honestly German I'm not sure exactly what got me started German but recently I visited our country's biggest mosque German was able to get a copy of the Qur'an in Spanish-it was a wonderful experience. Anyway German I'm getting a bit off topic. What I wanted to ask is: would it be proper for someone like me German who isn't Muslim German to create German develop a character who is Muslim? I want to approach this with total respect German a sincere wish to learn German but I know there's still so much I don't understand German and I'd really hate to accidentally get something wrong or misrepresent anything. Do you think it's possible to do this in a respectful way German or should I probably avoid it altogether since I'm coming from the outside? Also German if it's okay to ask another question from someone still learning: how do you usually feel about how Muslims are shown in movies German books German and media? Thanks in advance!
