Why does it seem like it's always Muslim countries?
As-salamu alaykum, Hey everyone, I wanted to share something that's been on my mind lately. I'm Muslim myself, so this isn't meant to insult anyone or hate - just asking questions. I keep noticing stories about places like Afghanistan where women are forced to wear burqas and have almost no rights. It's awful, and I know that's not true Islam - it's the actions of certain people. But still, why does it always seem to be Muslim countries being blamed? People DM me or tell me things like “your religion oppresses women” or even call Islam “cancer.” I try to remember they might just be Islamophobes, but it hurts that we’re so often painted as the bad ones. The Quran tells Muslim men to respect women, to lower their gaze, to honor parents, and there are teachings about the high status of mothers and the blessings of daughters. Islam promotes kindness, mercy, and justice - not forcing or abusing people. So where do these oppressive rules come from? Why do some Muslim men act in ways that make Islam look terrible? Is it cultural? If so, why do cultures in some Muslim-majority places treat women harshly while Islam teaches otherwise? I’m just confused and frustrated - I want to understand why this keeps happening and how we can show the real, compassionate teachings of our faith.
