What many misunderstand about Tablighi Jamaat
Assalamu alaikum, everyone. I keep seeing criticism that Tablighi Jamaat is just an excuse to ditch family and hang out with friends, or that it’s not effective. Maybe some people’s experiences were different, but here’s what I’ve seen. Tabligh isn’t directly about converting others-it’s actually a way to train yourself and strengthen your iman by learning from those who’ve dedicated their lives to Islam. I’m a student, and for years I’ve gone on tabligh, and honestly, I loved every moment. We’d spend hours reading books, listening to talks, and going door to door to invite people to these gatherings, which can lead them toward tabligh as well. The point is to give them a chance to learn Islam deeply and be trained to teach it properly. You can’t explain the deen if you don’t know it yourself. As for brotherhood, yes, it’s an opportunity to be with good brothers who want to increase their deen, and that bond is real. Some go for longer periods simply to boost their iman, and being around ulema helps. I’ve also heard doubts about Fazail-e-Aamal, but its content is easily verifiable with hadith, and anyway, we use many other books. Let me know if you have questions, inshaAllah I’ll try to clear them up.
