Wearing a Ring on the Thumb as a Man – Any Ruling?

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, dear brothers and sisters. We all know that wearing rings on the index and middle fingers is not allowed for men (and gold rings on any finger are also prohibited). For women, there are no restrictions on which finger to wear a ring. We also know it’s sunnah to wear a ring on the pinky, and it’s okay to wear one on the ring finger. But what about the thumb? After looking into it myself and searching quite a bit, I couldn’t find a clear hadith or fatwa that says whether it’s allowed, forbidden, or makruh. It’s honestly still unclear to me.
