Venezuela Earthquake Death Toll Rises to 2,954
Venezuela's Ministry of Communication and Information reported that the death toll from the earthquake has risen to 2,954, with 16,592 people injured. A total of 6,462 people were rescued after the quake damaged 856 buildings, 190 of which collapsed.
Relief efforts involve 3,281 international rescue workers and 29,567 local personnel deployed by Caracas. Rescue teams are still focused on the hardest-hit areas to ensure public safety and support recovery and reconstruction.
According to the USGS, two earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude hit Venezuela on June 24, 39 seconds apart. So far, 942 aftershocks have been recorded.
