Update on MBG Poisoning in Sidoarjo: Victims Reach 566, 88 Still Hospitalized
The suspected poisoning case following consumption of meals from the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program in Sidoarjo, East Java, continues to grow. As of Wednesday (9/2/2026), 566 people have reported health complaints. This number is up by 35 from the previous data of 531 cases.
Victims are not only from Manbaul Hikam Islamic Boarding School, but also students from 19 other educational institutions in Tanggulangin. The most commonly reported symptoms are nausea, vomiting, and dizziness. A total of 88 patients are still being treated at several hospitals in stable condition, while 470 others have been allowed to go home.
Laboratory examination of vomit samples and food ingredients is still ongoing, with results expected within seven days. The Health Office is also evaluating the food processing and distribution process from SPPG Kalitengah.
