UIN North Sumatra Makes History, Enters Top 1500 World Universities
Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU) has successfully broken into the 1001-1500 world ranking group in the Times Higher Education (THE) Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026. This achievement is an improvement from the 1501+ ranking in the previous year.
UINSU Rector Prof Nurhayati stated that this success is the result of the hard work of the entire academic community and proof of UINSU's commitment towards becoming a World Class University. This ranking shows global recognition of UINSU's contribution to global issues and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At the national level, UINSU is ranked 56th among Indonesian universities and third among State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIN). THE Sustainability Impact Ratings 2026 evaluated 1,646 universities from 116 countries based on their contribution to the 17 SDGs.
Head of UINSU's World University Rankings Center, Dr Muhammad Irwan Padli Nasution, added that this improvement was driven by the quality of data reporting and academic programs that have a direct impact on society. This achievement is expected to serve as a foundation to continue improving the university's performance in the future.
