The UAE has issued a rare rebuttal to a Financial Times article that described the Gulf state as pursuing 'imperial ambitions' in Africa. The UAE's director of strategic communications said the portrayal was patronizing and dismissed African governments' agency. The FT report had detailed the UAE's expanding military, economic and security footprint across the continent, including alleged support for Sudan's Rapid Support Forces.
