Two Indian nurses save a passenger's life on flight to Abu Dhabi - a humble reminder of responsibility
Assalamu alaikum. Two Indian nurses heading to the UAE to begin their medical careers were asked to act before they even started work - they helped a passenger who fell seriously ill on their early-morning flight to Abu Dhabi.
Abhijith Jees, 26, from Wayanad, and Ajeesh Nelson, 29, from Chengannur in Kerala, were on an Air Arabia flight from Kochi on October 13 when they heard someone nearby struggling to breathe. Both were travelling for the first time abroad and were on their way to new nursing roles in the UAE.
Abhijith noticed a man unresponsive and checked for a pulse. Finding none, he began CPR and alerted the cabin crew. Ajeesh quickly joined him. They kept calm, worked together, and performed two rounds of chest compressions until the passenger regained a pulse and started breathing again. A doctor on board also helped, and they stabilised the man, started IV fluids, and monitored him until the plane landed in Abu Dhabi.
The two young men said seeing the passenger respond felt like a blessing and a powerful reminder that their duty as caregivers follows them wherever they go. The passenger, a 34-year-old from Thrissur, was later reported stable after receiving care from the airport medical team. His family expressed deep gratitude and said they will keep the nurses in their prayers.
For Abhijith and Ajeesh, this experience made clear what their profession truly means and was an unforgettable start to their journey in the UAE. May Allah reward them for their swift action and grant the patient a full recovery. Jazakum Allahu khairan to everyone involved.
