The 35th NU Congress: Hundreds of Nusantara Ulama Manuscripts Exhibited in Jombang
The 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress also featured an exhibition of hundreds of old manuscripts and books called “Turots at the Congress”. The exhibition was organized by Nahdlatut Turots (NT) from August 27–31, 2026, at the Maqbarah complex of KH Abdul Hamid Chasbullah in Jombang, right next to the main congress venue at Pondok Pesantren Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas.
According to event chairman Ayung Notonegoro, this exhibition showcases the intellectual heritage of NU ulama across generations, from pesantren manuscripts in Java-Madura, to works of Nusantara ulama from various periods, up to recent works by PBNU personnel. “Visitors will realize just how strong the scholarly tradition is within Nahdlatul Ulama, passed down from one age to the next,” he said.
Besides the exhibition, there was a Turots Clinic offering short classes on preserving and digitizing ancient manuscripts. In partnership with the East Java Provincial Library and Archives Office, this service also helped people who wanted to take care of or digitize personal manuscripts. The exhibition was open to the public and ran from morning till night.
