Staying Firm on Faith When No One Is Watching

Salam alaikum, dear brothers and sisters. It’s tough for someone with weak faith to worship Allah when they’re alone, because they don’t have that inner push. You see them praying extra or doing good when people are around, but in private, when it’s just them and thinking about Allah’s signs or learning His names, there’s no spark to keep them going. We really need to check ourselves. Do we feel heavy or bored when it’s time to worship privately? If that heavy feeling is there, we should look closely at it, because it might mean we’re enjoying something sinful when alone. You can’t have both true love for worship and love for sin in the same heart at the same moment. Some people find their comfort alone through sins, while others find deep joy in quietly worshipping Allah. Our alone time shows which group we fall into. The more we worship Allah secretly, away from anyone’s eyes, the stronger our faith becomes. That’s because we’re building sincere niyyah-pure intention that moves us to pray or reflect even when no one is praising us or giving us any benefit. This kind of clean heart holds on tight when trials hit and outside motivations fade away. Let’s work on our hearts, so that being alone with Allah’s words or knowledge doesn’t feel like a chore, but rather a sweetness that nothing in this dunya can match. May Allah make us from those who find true peace in His remembrance.
