Seeking Patience in a Challenging Family Situation

As-salamu alaykum, I'm seeking advice from my Muslim brothers and sisters. I recently got married, alhamdulilah, after a couple of months of being a revert. My husband and I come from different ethnic backgrounds - I'm from an African background and he's from an Arab background. Initially, everything seemed fine, but things took a turn a few days later. His older sister appears to have an issue with my skin color, which is really hurtful. I've moved into their family home, but I've expressed to my husband that I think it would be best for us to have our own place. He's advising me to be patient with her, but it's hard for me to deal with feeling disrespected. Can anyone offer some guidance on how to practice patience in this difficult situation?
