Eye health awareness: In October Saudi Arabia will mark World Sight Day and White Cane Safety Day to raise awareness about eye care and the rights of people with visual impairments. General Aviation Airshow 2025: The Saudi Aviation Club unveiled plans for the “Sand and Fun” airshow, set for Nov. 25–29 at Al‑Thumamah Airport, under the patronage of Prince Faisal bin Bandar. Organizers expect a huge turnout, with more than 90 aerial performances, nightly shows, hands‑on aircraft displays, an exhibitions zone with over 100 companies, and talks on the future of sustainable aviation. There will be free entry for people with disabilities and children under six - Insha'Allah it will be a great family event.
Young chess talent: MAKKAH - Eleven‑year‑old Basil Al‑Salman is gaining attention as a rising Saudi chess player. He discovered chess at a family gathering in 2023, then took to online tutorials and practice. Basil balances school, training and family time (and makes room for his religious duties) as he prepares for tournaments. His breakthrough came at the Abu Dhabi Open B where he led after strong play, and he dreams of becoming Saudi champion and one day competing for world titles. He cites Mikhail Tal as a big inspiration and keeps a steady routine of sleep, puzzles and opening prep before matches.
That’s the highlights for now - may Allah grant success to all these initiatives.
