Saudi Arabia Shifts Hajj Paradigm for 1448 AH: Focus on Long-Term Risk Mitigation
Saudi Arabia is shifting the focus of Hajj management from operational to long-term risk mitigation systems for the 1448 AH season. This move marks a planning approach based on anticipation, not just post-Hajj evaluation. In a meeting of the Permanent Committee for Hajj and Umrah led by Prince Saud bin Mishaal, cross-agency integration and proactive mechanisms were discussed as priorities.
A total of 60 government agencies and service providers were involved in early planning workshops. The recommendations include refining operational plans, strengthening coordination, and clarifying responsibilities. The Umrah season is being used as a policy testing ground to trial systems before applying them to the Hajj.
This new approach emphasizes prevention by detecting potential obstacles earlier, in line with projected increases in pilgrim numbers and service complexity. Saudi Arabia is committed to ensuring optimal services for millions of pilgrims from various countries.
For pilgrim-sending countries like Indonesia, this is an important signal to improve coordination from the early stages. The risk-mitigation-based system demands adjustments in working patterns to meet ever-evolving service standards.
