Revealed: BoP Asked Mahmoud Abbas to Remove All “Palestine” References from School Textbooks
Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair was reportedly asked by the Peace Council (BoP) to urge the Palestinian Authority to erase the word ‘Palestine’ from schoolbooks and replace it with ‘Samaria.’ This info was dropped by former UK ambassador to the UN, Jeremy Greenstock, in a podcast, where he called the demand a post-deal pressure move tied to an agreement with Israel to end the war in Gaza.
Greenstock said Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas shot down Blair’s request. He slammed the BoP’s working principles, questioning whether they grasp fairness or history at all. Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Tony Blair brushed off the report as pure fiction.
Greenstock also brought up Blair’s track record in Iraq, hinting that his background makes it hard to see him as neutral on Palestine. Blair had earlier visited Israel, meeting PM Benjamin Netanyahu, and then headed to Cairo to sit down with Palestinian technocrats and Hamas reps.
