Residents and Family Swarm Beji Police Station Demanding Clarity on Arrest of Suspected Online Gambling Perp That Ended in Death

Dozens of residents and family members of WCN, 43, who died allegedly from abuse during an arrest on charges of running online gambling, showed up at Beji Police Station in Pasuruan Regency after the funeral on Monday (3/8). They questioned the arrest procedure without a warrant and demanded the officers involved be held accountable. A resident representative said the family and village officials never got any notice about the arrest, and they regretted the victim being treated like a serious theft suspect. Beji Police Chief Commissioner Ahmad Sukiyanto explained that the legal case was closed with a family statement letter and cancellation of the autopsy.
