Reflecting on Family Struggles and Personal Accountability
Assalamu Alaikum, today I was thinking about a verse that really made me realize how often we blame others for our problems. In Surah Ibrahim (14:22), Allah says: "And Satan will say when the matter has been decided: 'Indeed, Allah promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I betrayed you. I had no power over you except that I called you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me, but blame yourselves. I cannot help you, nor can you help me. I reject your claim that you associate me with Allah before. Truly, the wrongdoers will face a painful punishment.'" Just something I noticed recently: I saw a wife disobeying her husband, and their children following her example. Then I saw a father whose children were disobedient because he wasn’t kind to his wife. It shows clearly that our actions have consequences. Many difficulties people face come from their own lack of faith or mistakes. Remember, Allah is Most Forgiving and Most Merciful. If you’re going through a hard time, try to sincerely repent early. As Allah says in the Quran (39:7): "If you disbelieve, Allah is not in need of you. He does not approve of disbelief for His servants. But if you are grateful, He is pleased with you. No bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. To your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do. Indeed, He is Knowing of what is in the hearts." So reflecting on these verses, we can see the root causes of many problems we face today, yet we often refuse to take responsibility and turn back to Allah. May Allah guide us all on the right path.
