PWI Jombang Turns Office into 'Pondok Pewarta' for Journalists Covering NU Congress

The Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of Jombang Regency has transformed its office on Jalan Wahid Hasyim into a 'Pondok Pewarta' for out-of-town journalists covering the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Congress. The congress is scheduled to take place at the Bahrul Ulum Tambakberas Islamic Boarding School in Jombang from August 27–31, 2026. PWI Jombang chairman Muhammad Mufid said the facility can be used for resting, charging devices, writing news, and coordinating. "We're ready to help make the 35th NU Congress a success. One way is by opening the PWI office as a Pondok Pewarta for our fellow journalists from outside the area," he said on Monday (Aug 10). The Pondok Pewarta is expected to be a collaborative space for journalists from various regions to exchange information and process news materials. Mufid stressed the importance of journalistic professionalism, including verification and balance, during coverage of the congress, which has drawn wide public attention. The 35th NU Congress is a major event in Jombang, an area with a strong pesantren tradition.
