Prayer in Native Language for New Muslims

As-salamu alaykum, I recently accepted Islam and I was wondering if it's permissible to pray in my native language, at least initially. Since there's no mosque in my area and I have to perform my prayers at home, I'm looking for some guidance on this matter.
