Plea for dua - my brother in ICU with unexplained seizures, doctors say autoimmune encephalitis but some say evil eye/jinn
Assalamu alaikum, Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'un. I need help and dua please. My brother fell sick on september 30 with a high fever and was given usual meds. On october 4 he became confused and by night was totally disoriented. A psychiatrist thought it was acute psychosis and started antipsychotics. On the morning of oct 5 he became almost paralyzed and unresponsive. We rushed him to the hospital and he had a seizure in the car. They said it might be antipsychotic overdose and didn't start specific treatment. About 10 hours after the first seizure he had another and was moved to ICU for possible meningitis/encephalitis. That monday night we transferred him to a better hospital. He tested positive for dengue NS1 and was treated for dengue encephalitis. By tuesday he started waking up but was sedated. Wednesday he was fully awake but with memory loss. They moved him to a regular room on thursday and he seemed to be improving - memories returning. Friday was okay but he complained of twitching on his left side. On saturday morning (oct 12) he relapsed: lost sight, then awareness. Doctors said low-grade seizures. By night his awareness improved but his vision went black, then white the next day, then mostly returned by night. In the last two days we have contacted many aalim and muftis. Most say it’s an evil eye, and two said someone possessed him or put the evil eye. When he became very hallucinatory at night, a raqi told us to recite 11x al-Fatiha, 11x Ayat al-Kursi and 11x the last two verses of al-Qalam. I did that once and his vision started to come back. The second time, while he was hallucinating, he got angry, tried to grab my face and said while my mother was doing ruqiya that someone was knocking from under the bed. We have seen seizures occur several times right when we start ruqiya. He got better the next day but lost it again that night and had another seizure. On oct 14 a nurse told my mother his voice changed overnight and he said he could see a man in black by his bed. Today he has not been properly conscious. They have him on four anti-seizure meds, sedated with propofol, but seizures continue. EEG shows continuous generalized seizures. All tests so far are inconclusive: MRI is clear, fundoscopy was clear the day he went blind, spinal fluid tests (biofire, ANA, ENA, cultures) came back negative. The neurologist on the case is the best in our city, maybe country. They suspect autoimmune encephalitis and are recommending IVIGs, which are extremely expensive. We have done a lot of ruqiya, even sprinkled leftover wudu water on him, but there’s no steady improvement. One healer asked for his worn shirt, blood and black gram. Some so-called teachers and even some muftis asked for our mother’s name and a photo. He got married in july 2023 but they have been fighting a lot, never had a good period. One mufti, without much detail, said he’s under extreme stress and anxiety from his marital problems and that someone possessed him or put an evil eye. We are desperate. Please make dua for shifa and guidance - for barakah and ease with treatment decisions. If anyone has experience with similar medical/ruqiya overlap or knows reliable, trustworthy Islamic healers who work alongside doctors (not asking for dubious requests like blood/shirts), please advise. JazakAllah khair.
