As-salamu alaykum! There was a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Dagestan about developing the halal industry, with the director of the livestock and breeding department of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, Sergey Voskresensky, and the deputy head of "Russian Quality," Alexander Chumak, joining in.
Also in on the discussion were the deputy Mufti of the Republic of Dagestan for Sharia issues in the financial and economic sphere, head of the expert council under the Muftiyat of Dagestan, Abdulmagomed Magomedov, staff member of the expert council Umarakhab Arsalanaliev, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture of Dagestan, Rosselkhoznadzor, Dagestanstat, and local agricultural management authorities.
The main topics of the meeting included:
- aligning slaughter procedures fully with Sharia canons;
- enhancing the quality and transparency of halal product control;
- developing a unified certification regulation and creating a common registry of certificates;
- establishing standards and mechanisms to ensure that Russian halal products gain trust in international markets.
Sergey Voskresensky emphasized that the support of the Muftiyat in properly presenting halal products and bringing the industry out of the shadow sector is crucial for the development of Russia's exports.
The Muftiyat of the Republic of Dagestan confirmed its readiness to be the main guarantor of the purity and compliance of products with Sharia norms-from the moment of slaughter to packaging.
Following the meeting, participants noted that Dagestan is taking a confident step towards becoming the center of halal exports in Russia, setting a new standard of quality, transparency, and responsibility that other regions and perhaps even countries could follow.
Wa alaykum as-salam.
