NTT Disaster Response Coordination Meeting, Deputy Minister: Don't Let Affected Residents Face the Disaster Alone
Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono attended a coordination meeting on the Flores earthquake disaster response in Labuan Bajo, NTT, Sunday (16/8). The meeting was chaired by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno and attended by several ministers and affected regional heads.
Deputy Minister emphasized that the Ministry of Social Affairs will keep moving and not let affected residents face the disaster alone. The Ministry has mobilized aid from Sentra Efata and the NTT Provincial Social Service warehouse, including mattresses, blankets, food, clothing, as well as prepared 1,000 basic food packages and 48 tons of rice. Total Ministry support reaches Rp 4.52 billion.
The Ministry will also provide compensation of Rp 15 million to the heirs of deceased victims. As of Sunday at 07.50 WITA, 3,839 people were affected, 47 died, and 110 were injured.
The central government is accelerating earthquake response through cross-sector coordination, setting up two national command posts in Labuan Bajo and Maumere, and repairing road and bridge infrastructure. Presidential aid has begun distribution using Hercules aircraft.
