Navigating a Mother's Concerns on Hijab

Assalamu alaikum, I could really use some advice from the community. I'm living in France, where wearing the hijab in school isn't permitted, but I feel a strong desire to start covering. The main issue is that my mother doesn't think it's the right time or approach, so she wants me to wait until I'm older before making that commitment. I'm honestly feeling stuck between my wish to follow this important step of my faith and my duty to honor and respect my mother's wishes. Has anyone else been through something similar? Should I be patient and wait, or is this something I should pursue now?
