My brother may be affected - need advice and duas
As-salamu alaykum. A while back my brother became very ill with severe, lightning-like migraines. We tried many treatments but couldn’t find the cause. When we went back to our home country he reached out to someone who claimed to do ruqyah, but it turned out that person was involved in black magic. After that he started having strange episodes where he couldn’t walk properly, staggered backward, couldn’t hold his weight, and would speak from another perspective. I didn’t see those first ones, but months later I witnessed him speaking about himself in the third person and saying odd things like “we’ve been inside him for eight months” and using a word I didn’t understand (mutabar). I suggested we go for Umrah together, thinking being near the Kaʿbah and making dua might help. He reacted by widening his eyes and making huffing sounds. My husband was reciting various ayahs and surahs, and my brother said things like “we tried to kill him in front of his mother, we took him to the upper floor above your room and tried to kill him but these ayahs saved him. Why doesn’t he die?” When I mentioned Umrah again he said, with widened eyes, something like “he made Him very happy there, and He listened to him too,” which I took to mean my brother pleased Allah and Allah answered him. These episodes came and went; he was sweating heavily, his head would jerk strangely as if he was struggling for control, and sometimes he cried. I’m really worried and don’t know what to do. Has anyone dealt with something like this? What Islamic steps should we take - trusted ruqyah, scholars to contact, duas, and also medical avenues to rule out seizures or other conditions? Please suggest practical next steps and any duas or actions we can do for him. JazākAllāhu khayran.
