Ministry of Hajj Pushes BPKH to Boost Hajj Fund Benefits for Pilgrims
Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak is pushing BPKH to optimize the management of hajj funds in order to increase the benefit value for pilgrims, instead of burdening them with a planned increase in the initial deposit from Rp25 million to Rp35 million. Dahnil emphasized that the collected funds must be managed to have a real impact for prospective pilgrims, not just for the benefit of the institution. He also mentioned the revision of the Hajj Financial Management Law as a momentum to strengthen ease and benefit value for pilgrims.
BPKH Head Fadlul Imansyah previously revealed that the delay in raising the initial deposit could potentially eliminate an additional managed fund of Rp5.65 trillion this year. In addition, the installment scheme for full payment of the deposit for waiting pilgrims has not yet been implemented, and BPKH faces challenges from the withdrawal of previous year's BPIH funds as well as global economic dynamics. Until May 2026, BPKH's performance is still under control with good new hajj registrations and welfare programs nearing targets, but policy strengthening support remains necessary.
